A Word From Church Planting Canada

Here's what Cam Roxburgh had to say about how Mosaic "fits in" with past and future church planting congresses:

The "Next...?" Congress in Vancouver began a chain of National Church Planting Congresses that hope to give shape to not just the number of church plants that we do in this country, but also the nature of what we plant. The goals set by the National Team are still very much on the radar screen, but the strategy for reaching these goals needs to be shaped by better ecclesiology and by a more relevent approach given the complexities of the culture in which we find ourselves. In 2003, in Vancouver, Eddie Gibbs, and then Len Sweet, caused us to look at where the culture is going and how we might begin to adress issues of our day. Although it was for some, material that they were already implementing, for many across our country it gave them a taste of the conversations yet to come.

Mosaic in 2005 in Toronto is the next step. We live in such a diverse country which many have stated is not a 'melting pot' but rather a Mosaic. The emphasis on helping to both reach all of the different people groups and then to also create churches that show a unity within diversity, will help to continue the conversation towards a "church of the future-today" in Canada.

Ottawa is the sight of the Congress in 2007. It will be the next step in the Continuing Conversion of Church Planting Canada to steal a phrase from Darrell Guder. Emphasis in the next number of Congresses will focus on such issues as "Models", "Multiplication," "Movements, " and even such issues as how we train leaders of the future. The Congresses will continue to grow in scope and value, and yet also become
more focused on target audience and topic.
